Although most of this guide is directed toward free resources in English, so much confusion surrounds the corpus of Chabad Chassidic teaching, and the sheer number of works, versions, reprints, etc., is so daunting, that I’ve seen fit to expand this section into a brief overall guide to the various works important to Chabad thought. As such, each section will be organized with a list of the main works in their original languages, followed by what’s available in English online.
This page is for the roughly “canonical” Chabad library, and I have tried to focus on the main works that almost all Chassidim would agree comprise the core of the Chabad corpus. As such, I have not included biographies or stories about the Rebbeim, books of Chabad custom, or works by Chassidim. Many excellent anthologies, commentaries, translations and more have also been left out of this overview. I have made one general exception for English translations in the spirit of helping the English-speaking student to access as much of Chabad teaching as possible. Priority has been given to versions of works freely available online. If the work is not fully available online, links to stores have been provided.
